Vacations are great. But if I'm away for too long, I miss my little babies so much. Their gentle, innocent eyes and itsy bitsy bodies, light as a feather.

It’s no coincidence My Journey has taken me into skilled nursing at Palomar Pomerado Health, a Magnet® health–care system in North County San Diego. You couldn’t ask for a better job. It’s a really positive environment and I love my coworkers.

I come from a small village in Idaho - not too exciting. But, today, My Journey has taken me to Palomar Pomerado Health in San Diego, where everyday holds promise and reward. As I nourish and love these tiny babies, I also feel nourished and loved.

I get to educate new mothers on nutrition and child development, offer support and encouragement, while caring for their newborns. When I see those tiny little bodies and hands, I see so much possibility. A future carpenter. A surgeon. A poet. A violinist. I touch their tiny little feet and think, one day maybe a fireman, a dancer or an athlete.

There's nothing more rewarding than seeing a proud mother leave the hospital with her tiny bundle of joy, knowing that I’ve been there since the baby’s fragile beginning, helping to strengthen and love it to health.

The 10,406-square-foot Women’s Center is located in the new Pomerado Outpatient Pavilion adjacent to Pomerado Hospital. The Center resides on the first floor of the Pavilion and is home to a comprehensive breast center and perinatal testing center. Created to treat a woman’s body, nourish her soul and rejuvenate her spirit, the new Jean McLaughlin Women’s Center for Health and Healing combines the most advanced technologies for diagnosis and treatment with personalized, compassionate care provided in a peaceful, healing environment.

PALOMAR MEDICAL CENTER

The family-friendly Birth Center provides new mothers with labor, delivery and recovery care in one comfortable private suite, or in a separate recovery and post-partum bedroom designed to give her privacy to bond with her little one. We also have a six-bed Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) nearby to provide the advanced technology needed to give at-risk newborns a fighting chance to grow strong and healthy. The 23-bed pediatric unit was recently remodeled to create a more cheerful, healing environment for our young patients.

The 107-bed hospital also offers a 24-hour Emergency Department, family friendly Birth Center, a Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and general medical/surgical services.
